  • 14/03/2019

Young Business Talents is a business game-based educational program organized by Praxis MMT Corp with the collaboration of ESIC and ABANCA in which since its early days, more than 37000 Bachillerato, 4ºESO and vocational training students have participated in.

In this year’s 2018/2019 edition, Retamar has signed up more than 40 teams counting with 3 to 4 participants per team. Each week, since early on in the month of November, the teams have had to carefully adopt strategies and take decisions based in the fields of marketing, human resources, production and finance for their virtual companies which compete in mass markets. The benefits obtained over a 1 year virtual cycle (1 week in real terms) determine the classification of the nearly 2000 registered teams throughout the different provinces in Spain. The top 100 classified teams will be present in the grand finale held next April 5th. Moreover, 8 of the classified teams will represent the top 8 teams coming from Madrid. Additionally, there will be a maximum of two teams per school. Following the semifinals, the results for Retamar have been outstanding as 5 of the school’s teams finished amongst the top 10, 10 teams amongst the top 20 and two teams have made it through to the final.

The most important objective behind this program is for its participants to learn by doing, but since it’s considered to be a game, the competition is not only about virtual markets.

Since 2013, Retamar holds the record for having had a total of 27 teams in the final round. In addition to the latter, Retamar won the final round during the simulations stage in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017.  Moreover, in 2013, Retamar was proclaimed National Champions after taking gold in the final of the simulation stage.

This year Retamar will be represented in the National Finals by 2 teams: NAP a team composed of the following 2º Bachillerato students: Fernando Álvarez, Pedro Gómez-Villalba y Álvaro Perdiguero and IOISIM a team composed of the following 1º Bachillerato students: Ignacio Maldonado, Ignacio Olivares, Íñigo Sánchez-Urbina y Jaime Alcolea.
