Retamar’s academic project starts in the first years of education (Kindergarten) together with Orvalle and Alegra schools and it develops in Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate or Professional Training (Formación Profesional).

The school’s academic project seeks to enable our students to intellectually develop in accordance with their abilities and interests. We try to get the best from each student so that such development helps them be happy and grow professionally, serving society.

One of the school’s challenges is to look out for diversity. In addition to reinforcement activities provided to students with learning difficulties, one of Retamar’s priorities is to pay attention to high performing students, which in most cases do not have extraordinary skills but have a continued desire to work and learn and persevere in such goals. An example of this is the high number of activities organised with the objective of students developing their skills in sports, science, literature, arts, debates or businesses, to name a few.

Working like this helps our students to access University with a strong preparation allowing 100% of our students to pass the University access exams (EvAU).The average result of our students in the General Phase of the EvAU in the last years is above 8 (out of 10); and a high percentage of our students gets a final result over 12.4 (out of 14).

Retamar has been an International Baccalaureate school since 1978. From that year a group of the older students focused on the subjects more related to their academic itinerary studying a double Baccalaureate (national and international) developing their  skills and competences on an international level. This double program is aimed at students reaching a higher academic and personal work level and wishing to increase their preparation. Although in the first promotions the number of students in this program was not above 10, in the last years around 30% of the Baccalaureate students have gotten the Bilingual Diploma.

In an attempt to make each student’s academic life easier and adapted to their personal and intellectual development, the School offers Professional Training (Formación Profesional). This has always been one of the School’s hallmarks. It started as a groundbreaking option in 1969 with the evening classes and it has become a benchmark in the Administration, Finance and Computer areas. Both in the Middle and Superior Grades of Professional Training, Retamar provides the best academic, human and spiritual education adapted to the students’ age. To improve their education more than 30% of our students combine their classes with internships in some of the 400 companies Retamar has collaboration agreements with.
